CLUB HISTORY

Carina Leagues commenced from humble beginnings in October 1970 in the lower ground floor section of Chadwick Hall. The Club was trading under a Sporting Licence which permitted the sale of alcohol only while sport was being played. The Club was granted a Liquor Licence on 22 October 1971 and was the first club in Queensland to be granted trading hours from 10:00AM to 11:00PM. Since this time, strong patronage and support has seen Carina Leagues Club continue to grow and flourish.

Over the last 20 years, Carina Leagues has trebled in size, with a revised Liquor Licence permitting the club to trade until 4:00AM. This has seen the development of modern facilities for our members and guests, including;

Our Gaming Area with  300 gaming machines – the maximum allowed in QLD, our Gaming Area boasts a designated staffed kitchenette providing our members and guests with complimentary tea, coffee and soft drink, as well as designated outdoor smoking facilities with mist fans and heaters for the comfort of our members and guests.

Our main bar and TAB facilities, which are centrally positioned, ensuring ease of access from all areas of the Club.
Our Cafe, which trades from 10:00AM till late 7 days a week and offers an all-day food menu including light meals, sandwiches, hot and cold beverages, sweets and more.

Our Bistro, which caters for all needs from a Traditional Roast Dinner to a more sophisticated option from our A La Carte menu or a delicious Noodle dish from our new Asian Menu. To make life a little bit easier for those with special dietary requirements, we have a separate menu that caters for vegan, vegetarian and gluten free requirements. We recently added a new look Asian Experience where our members and guests can watch our expert Chefs carefully prepare their meals.

Our Cocktail and Tapas Bar, Chadwicks which is open on Friday evenings and Weekends, this space caters for our members and guests who like to relax in style away from the usual Club announcements and promotions. Chadwicks has its very own cocktail, wine and tapas menu and live entertainment every Friday and Saturday evening. Chadwicks is also available for Private Functions and is our most popular Function Room, catering for anything from a Corporate Conference during the week through to a Birthday or Anniversary Celebration over the Weekend! Carina Leagues also has two fully equipped Conference Rooms which provide all the technology required for any conference, training session or board meeting.

Our fully supervised Children’s Playroom, which has its own designated playground and outdoor area, as well as gaming consoles, movies, toys, books, face painting and much more.
Carina Leagues Club also boasts a large, landscaped carpark with plenty of room, full lighting , a large number of shaded parks and a buggy service which ensures that our members and guests are picked up and dropped off from their car to the entrance safely.

  • to assist by financial, or by other means, any or all organisations which are devoted to fostering youth welfare facilities for youngsters and underprivileged and handicapped children, relieving poverty and hardship and preventing juvenile delinquency.

CLUB GOALS

The goal of our Club is to prosper as a major Social Club in South East Brisbane. We will service our Members and associated Clubs by providing a safe and friendly environment for Members, Staff and the community.

We excel in food, beverage, entertainment, gaming and the development of local junior sport while promoting Responsible Service of Alcohol and Responsible Service of Gaming.

IN THE COMMUNITY

Carina Leagues Club contributes monthly to the Gambling Community Benefit Fund. The Gambling Community Benefit Fund is Queensland’s largest one-off grants program, distributing about $53 million per year. Established in 1994 under the Gaming Machine Act 1991, the fund returns to the community a portion of state revenue raised through gambling taxes.

In addition to this Carina Leagues Club donated $4,286,372 cash and in kind for the financial year ended 30th June 2018.

This contribution has assisted in the rebuild of the Junior Football Clubhouse ($1.5 million), supported the CHCWA with $2 million to build gymnasium, various schools, sporting organisations, community funds and individuals via a variety of means from the donation of money, goods or equipment through to free use of our facilities.

With your support we can continue to deliver on the promise to our members and our community.

VISION-FUTURE DIRECTION OF THE CLUB

The Directors, Management and builders are continuously busy at work developing ambitious concepts for the future direction of the Club. There is plenty of new and exciting renovations and changes happening to Carina Leagues Club starting from now. Our car park, gaming room and Bistro has undergone significant change over the past 12 months and it is continuing to develop and improve.

The club has come a long way since its origin and the road has been a continuous and rewarding journey. All would not have been possible without our fantastic support system from both the local community, management and employees at Carina Leagues Club.

There is a bright light at the end of the tunnel and it is only getting closer within our reach as the months and years go by. We are always continuing to improve our club and ensure that our journey is ongoing and fruitful for the benefit of ourselves and the local community.
